Pilots rally late to beat Santa Clara in WCC opener

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland women's tennis team won the final three singles matches to pull out a 4-3 win over Santa Clara in the West Coast Conference opener for both schools Friday at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center. The Pilots (6-2, 1-0) have now won five dual matches in a row, while the Broncos fall to 3-4 overall.

"What a great way to start the conference season with a hard-fought match," Portland head coach Susie Campbell said. "Santa Clara is a solid team and they came out playing some great tennis to start out the singles. However, this was a perfect example of a team win with every player contributing for us today.
