Pilots Put Six Boats on the Water at the Portland Fall Classic

PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Pilots women's rowing team competed on the Willamette River on Sunday morning, putting six boats on the water at the Annual Portland Fall Classic downtown. The varsity eight began the morning with a first-place finish on the 5000 meter course.

The event's format is a head race, which means crews started one at a time with about 10-15 seconds in between each boat. Portland's varsity eight, which had Miranda Reyes in the coxswain seat and Lauren Jesse rowing stroke, posted a time of 17:34.115, which was 14 seconds faster than second-place Oregon State. The Beavers just did edge Washington State, who finished third.
