PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots opened the Portland North Marriott Invite with a win, claiming their first sweep of the season by defeating the Idaho Vandals 3-0 this Friday afternoon at the Chiles Center. The Pilots won in three sets, 25-14, 26-24, and 29-27.
Senior Shayla Hoeft led the match with 13 kills along with a .385 hitting percentage. Junior Liz Reich had nine kills and two blocks, while junior Carey Williams had 18 digs and three service aces.
The Pilots (3-1) battle back and forth with the Vandals (1-3) in the first set, until Reich's second kill of the match gave Portland the lead at 8-7.
