CORVALLIS, Ore. --- After the Pilots evened the score with a three-run fifth inning, the No. 1 Oregon State Beavers scored two runs in the seventh and another in the eighth to overcome Portland 6-3 on Tuesday night at Goss Stadium. Matt Kelly and Beau Brundage both had RBI doubles for the Pilots.
Oregon State (13-0) began the game with a three-run bottom of the first inning, but the Pilots (4-8) responded by holding the top-ranked team in the country to only one hit and zero runs during the next five innings. Still within 3-0 in the top of the fifth, Kelly came to the plate with two outs and Tate Budnick on first base.
