PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots gave the number one ranked team in the country all they could handle, but the Oregon State Beavers scored the go-ahead runs in the top of the sixth inning to escape with a 4-3 win on Tuesday night in front of a record crowd of 1,300 fans at Joe Etzel Field. It's the 20th straight win for the Beavers.
And it wasn't easy as Oregon State (25-1) had to rally for the victory after initially taking a 2-0 lead with a 2-run homer in the top of the second inning.
After those two runs, Portland's (6-22) Chris Arpan provided an immediate response when he left the yard with his first career home run to lead off the home half of the inning.
