Pilots Fall 9-8 to Redhawks Despite Three Homers

BELLEVUE, Wash. – Despite making a strong push late in the game with five runs in the seventh inning, the Portland Pilots (23-16) fell to the Seattle U Redhawks (12-25) 9-8. The loss splits the season series between the two sides.

Nick Nygard took the loss for Portland, coming in in the fourth inning and having three runs counted against him. Five pitchers in total made appearances for the Pilots. Joey Gartrell and Caleb Franzen had the strongest outings, with Gartrell – the starter – going three innings with no hits or runs and Franzen going four innings with four strikeouts and only one run and three hits allowed.
