Pilots Fall 7-5 in Opener Against Zags

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots put two runners on in the ninth, but could not drive in any runs late against the Gonzaga Bulldogs, losing 7-5 in the series opener.

Morgan Codron (2-1) took the loss in the start for Portland (21-28, 12-10 WCC), allowing six runs in four innings with four strikeouts.

The Pilots had five runs on six hits, with Cody Nitowitz going 2-for-3 with a double as the lone hitter with multiple base knocks.
