VANCOUVER, Wash. --- The Portland Pilots beach volleyball team begun 2020 regular season play at Frenchman's Bar Regional Park against the Oregon Ducks. The Ducks prevailed by a slim 3-2 margin, thanks to late fifth pairs victory.
Portland's (0-1) 1's & 2's pairs grabbed their first victories of the season, with the afternoon finishing with a three-set thriller. Shayla Hoeft and graduate transfer Alycia Wodke teamed up for the first time as Pilots, taking a tight match with a third set score of 15-13.
Carey Williams and Emma Scanlan, defensive specialists for the Pilots, worked together for a clean victory against the Duck's (1-0) 2 pair.
