SALEM, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots men's and women's track & field teams opened up the outdoor season at the Willamette Opener on Saturday. Danny Martinez showed well on opening day with a pair of first place finishes in the 1,500m and the 5,000m.
Martinez's time of 3:57.60 in the 1,500m took first. Nick Doan and Sam Lomax were the next finishers for the Pilots in fourth and fifth with times of 3:59.77 and 4:00.19, respectively. Martinez continued his success in the 5,000m with a first place finish with his time of 14:56.
