SAN MATEO, Calif. – Portland sophomore right-hander Peter Allegro has been named the West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week after a stellar performance out of the bullpen for the Pilots. Allegro picked up the save in 4.2 innings of scoreless relief in Portland's 9-6 win against Pepperdine in Friday's series opener.
The Tacoma, Wash. native allowed just one baserunner and struck out eight Waves batters in earning his third save of the season.
Allegro came on in the fifth inning with the bases loaded and only one out. He got a flyout and fielder's choice to limit the damage and maintain Portland's 9-6 lead.
