Chengdu, China — Laura Pellicoro wins her second World University Games title in the women's 1500 meter event, running a time of 4:15.82. Pellicoro's double victory made her the only athlete in the meet to win more than one event, male or female.
Similar to her 800 meter victory, Pellicoro had to fight down the home stretch to earn her 1500 meter title. In a dead sprint finish with Vera Hoffmann from Luxembourg, Pellicoro came out on top finishing in 4:15.82 to Hoffmann's 4:16.47. The pie was able to gap third place finisher Silan Ayyildiz who would finish in 4:17.
