Sacramento, Calif. – Laura Pellicoro qualifies for the NCAA Championships in the women's 1500 meter for the first time. This will be her fifth NCAA Championships (1 Cross Country, 2 NCAA Indoor, 2 NCAA Outdoor).
Pellicoro ran near the front of the pack, matching the moves of her competitors for the first phases of the race. With a lap to run, a total of nine competitors were within half a second of each other. Pellicoro passed three competitors in the final lap to finish fifth in heat 1 with a time of 4:12.94, good for 12th overall.
Pellicoro will join two of her teammates in Austin for the Championships, Cathal Doyle in the 1500 meter and Matt Strangio in the 5,000 meter.
