PORTLAND, Ore. --- For the second straight year, Portland men's soccer midfielder Rey Ortiz was named to the initial MAC Hermann Trophy watch list, which was announced on Thursday by United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club. Ortiz, a senior midfielder who earned all-west region and all-conference accolades last fall, was also named to the MAC Hermann watch list in 2018.
The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year's winners will be announced Friday, Jan.
