PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots battled through 90 minutes and created several chances for a possible equalizer, but in the end the No. 11 Washington Huskies escaped Merlo Field with a 1-0 win in a friendly played on Saturday night.
The Huskies goal came on a throw-in in the 30th minute, that was perfectly placed in the direction of Kyle Coffee. Coffee let it bounce, took a touch and buried a shot inside the far post to hand the visiting side a 1-0 lead. Jaret Townsend claimed the assist.
30 seconds later the Pilots nearly leveled the score when Jason Romero struck a well-hit shot towards the left post in the 20 yards out.
