Men’s Tennis off to strong start at ITA Regionals

EUGENE, Ore. – The Portland men's tennis team went 6-3 in singles on the opening day of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships Wednesday at the Student Tennis Center. Four Pilots are now one victory away from qualifying for the ITA Northwest Super Regional scheduled for Oct. 22-25 in Seattle.

Singles quarterfinalists and doubles semifinalists in the regional main draw will advance to Super Regionals. Pilot junior Sema Pankin is already a singles qualifier for the Super Regional.

Freshman Julien Penzlin, sophomore Nikolas Tvedt and seniors Eleftherios Neos and Issa Yoshida all advanced to the Round of 16 on Wednesday.
