Men’s Tennis Has Strong Saturday Performances

Southern California Intercollegiate Championships I Gonzaga Invitational Draws

Three Portland men's tennis freshmen reached the finals of their respective singles flights in an impressive Saturday at the Gonzaga Invitational in Spokane, Wash.

Sema Pankin won both of his singles matches to advance to the top flight title match on Sunday. Pankin knocked off Eastern Washington's Jeremy Field 6-2, 6-3 and then down Gonzaga senior Sam Feit, the bracket's No. 2 seed, 7-5, 7-5. He will face Ruadhan O'Sullivan of Gonzaga on Sunday.

In the Red Flight, Issa Yoshida knocked off Simón Homedes (Gonzaga) and Nikola Dimitrijevic (Portland State) to reach the finals.
