PORTLAND, Ore. -- Due to expected extreme heat, the Portland Pilots Men's Soccer season opener against the Central Arkansas Bears has been pushed back 30 minutes to a 7:30 p.m. kickoff time. The 17th annual Bite on the Bluff, the pregame event for Friday, is still planned for a 4 p.m. start.
The Pilots finished last season 7-4-7 and 4-0-4 in WCC play. They went unbeaten in the final 10 games of the season, the longest streak on the West Coast. Four of Portland's wins came against top 35 RPI teams last year. The Pilots were recently picked to finish third in the annual West Coast Conference preseason poll and saw Joe Highfield and Efetobo Aror each make the preseason team.
