PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland women's cross country junior Lauren LaRocco was named the US Bank University of Portland Student-Athlete of the Month for October. LaRocco led the Pilots to their first West Coast Conference team title since 2008, while also claiming the individual title with a time of 20:27.8.
From Sacramento, Calif., LaRocco's first-place finish earned her All-WCC First Team Honors, while also landing on the All-WCC Academic team. This marks the 10th time that the Pilots have won both the team and individual crowns in the same year, and its Portland 20th team title overall.
Earlier in the month, LaRocco finished ninth overall at NCAA Pre-Nationals again leading the team to an impressive fourth-place finish.
