Eugene, Ore. -- Woody Kincaid uses lethal "kick" to win 2023 USA Track and Field (USATF) 10,000 meter title in 28:23.01. For the second time in his career, Kincaid earned the 10,000 meter title in the USATF championships, also attaining the title in the 2021 Olympic Trials.
The race went out modestly, with the early and middle stages of the race being relatively slow compared to what is normal at a USATF championships. With a mile to go, much of the field continued to stay in contention as Kincaid settled nearly the leaders. With 400 meters to go, Kincaid released his well-known kick, making up a three second gap on American record holder, Grant Fisher.
