STOCKTON, Calif. – Nikola Keremedchiev won his opening round singles match and partnered with Cade Fernando to reach the doubles quarterfinals to highlight Portland's efforts Friday at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.
Keremedchiev defeated Oregon's Sam Olszakowski 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 to advance to the Round of 32 where he will face Nico Rating of host Pacific Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
Portland had two doubles teams advance in the morning session on Friday. Keremedchiev and Fernando defeated Nicholas Reeves and James Hutchinson of Gonzaga 8-5 in a Round of 32 match.
