PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Saint Mary's Gaels broke a scoreless tie with three goals in the second half to defeat the Portland Pilots 3-0 in a West Coast Conference women's soccer game played on Sunday afternoon at Merlo Field.
After 58 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Gaels (3-12-2, 1-5-0 WCC) scored their first goal when Samantha Dion found Kiana Quarles inside the 18. Quarles did the rest, finishing inside the left post to hand the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Hannah Diaz would make it a 2-0 game in the 66th minute when she buried a shot from the top of the 18-yard box.
