MORAGA, Calif. --- Portland pitchers Chris Clements, Christian Peters, and Connor Knutson combined to hold the Gaels to just one run on six hits, but it was enough as Saint Mary's prevailed 1-0 over the Pilots in the finale of a three-game West Coast Conference series played on Sunday afternoon at Louis Guisto Field.
For the second straight game, the Pilots (19-14, 2-10 WCC) got the potential game-tying run on third base in the top of the ninth. But like Saturday, the Gaels (19-12, 6-3 WCC) left the runner stranded as they completed the sweep.
Clements (6-1), who has been the WCC's Pitcher of the Week three times this season, was solid once again, limiting the Gaels to five hits in 6.
