PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Saint Mary's Gaels scored five runs during the first three innings before holding off the Portland Pilots to claim a 6-2 win in the second game of a West Coast Conference series played on Saturday afternoon at Joe Etzel Field. Portland's Beau Brundage extended his hitting streak to 18 games during the loss.
The Gaels (10-6, 1-1 WCC) surged ahead with some early offense as they scored one run in the top of the first and three more in the second. All three of those runs in the second inning came on a bases-loaded double off the bat of starting pitcher Kevin Milam, who helped his own cause with a deep ball driven to straight away center field.
