PORTLAND, Ore. – The San Francisco Dons made 15 three-pointers and outrebounded Portland by a 51-23 margin in an 84-61 West Coast Conference men's basketball victory Saturday night at the Chiles Center. Souley Boum led all scorers with 26 points for the Dons (9-6, 1-1 WCC).
Freshman guard Marcus Shaver Jr. led the Pilots (6-9, 0-2 WCC) with 12 points.
The Dons set the tone early by racing to a 46-28 halftime lead. San Francisco controlled the first half by outrebounding the Pilots 27-9 and holding Portland to 31 percent shooting. Despite forcing nine turnovers and committing just three, the Pilots only gained a 9-4 edge in points off of turnovers as the Dons hit 10 first half three-pointers.
