PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland junior Cooper Hummel is the U.S. Bank University of Portland Student Athlete of the Month after batting .500 (15-for-30) during February. The catcher/designated hitter also had four doubles, a triple, eight runs scored and nine RBI's as the Pilots won five of their first eight games.
Hummel, who had at least one hit during all eight games and had two games with three RBI's, opened the season with a 3-for-3 performance during a win at UC Davis. He also had a triple, scored three times and drove in three runs as the Pilots rolled to a 12-0 win.
