PORTLAND, Ore. --- Former Portland Director of Soccer Clive Charles and men's soccer alum Steve Cherundolo are both Class of 2021 Finalists for induction into the National Soccer Hall of Fame, it was announced on Tuesday. Charles was the long-time head coach for both of Portland's soccer programs, winning an NCAA National Championship with the women in 2002. Cherundolo spent two years as a defender with the Pilots before embarking on a successful playing and coaching career.
During his time at the helm of Portland soccer (1986-2002), Clive Charles led the women's and men's teams to 439 victories, 20 national playoff berths, nine College Cup Appearances, 13 conference titles, and a national championship.
