PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Gonzaga Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead before claiming a 19-3 win over the Portland Pilots in a West Coast Conference baseball game played on a wet Saturday night at Joe Etzel Field. Hunter Montgomery homered for the Pilots.
Montgomery's home run, his sixth of the year, came with the bases empty in the bottom of the second inning. He launched a 1-0 pitch over the left field fence, and he matches Matt Kelly and Daniel Lopez for the team-high in homers.
But it was all Gonzaga (16-14, 9-5 WCC) otherwise as they scored at least one run during seven of the nine innings.
