PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland battled through five sets against Santa Clara, but the Broncos would prevail 3-2 over the Pilots in the Chiles Center Saturday afternoon. The Pilots (9-7, 2-2) claimed the first and third sets with scores of 25-22 and 25-21, and the Broncos (10-7, 1-4) won three with scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 15-8.
Hannah Troutman started off the first set with a strong kill, but Santa Clara rallied to keep the set close for the next 12 points. The Broncos then went on a three-point run, but Sarah Savoca planted a kill to stop their momentum.
