SANTA CLARA, Calif. --- Kaylie Van Loo just missed a career high with 18 points and the Pilots were within reach of the Broncos late, but Santa Clara held on to win 68-56 in a West Coast Conference women's basketball game played on Thursday night at the Leavey Center. Van Loo, who handed out eight assists and hit nine shots from the floor, was responsible for 17 of Portland's 22 field goals.
The Pilots (4-18, 2-9 WCC) were solid in the first quarter as Van Loo scored 10 and Portland shot 60 percent from the field. With just over a minute left in the frame, Van Loo hit consecutive jumpers to hand her team their biggest lead at 19-12.
