Both Portland Cross Country Teams Surge to No. 7 in the National Polls

PORTLAND, Ore. --- Following a historic weekend where the Portland Pilots men's and women's cross country teams swept the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational, both teams have moved up to No. 7 in their respective USTFCCA National Rankings.

The previously 19th-ranked Portland men bested a field consisting of eight nationally ranked teams in Minnesota as the Pilots' five scoring runners all finished in the top 25 individually. Led by fifth-place finisher Jeff Thies, Portland scored 69 points with four runners placing in the top-16, and the Pilots finished well ahead of second-place Iowa State.
