SAN BRUNO, Calif. – University of Portland junior point guard Alec Wintering has been named the West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for December 28, 2015. Wintering led the Pilots to a pair of home wins against Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine last week as Portland opened WCC play with a 2-0 record. Wintering averaged 21.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in the two victories.
The Charlotte, N.C. native erupted for a career-high 34 points in Wednesday's 87-79 win over Pepperdine on 11-of-15 shooting from the field as the Pilots led from start-to-finish.
