SAN BRUNO, Calif. – University of Portland point guard Alec Wintering has been named the West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for January 2, 2017. Wintering was also named the CollegeSportsMadness.com National High-Major Player of the Week on Monday. The Charlotte, N.C. native averaged 24.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists in leading the Portland Pilots to a pair of wins to open WCC play.
Wintering erupted for 26 points, five rebounds, six assists and zero turnovers in an 80-76 road win at Pacific on Thursday.
