SAN MATEO, Calif.--- The seventh-ranked Portland Pilots men's cross country team has been picked to finish second in the 2020-21 WCC Spring Men's Cross Country Coaches Poll, the conference announced on Thursday. The Pilots are only behind defending national champion and current No. 1 BYU. At last year's WCC Championships, the Portland men finished second to the Cougars.
The Cougars were the unanimous winners in this year's preseason poll, collecting eight first-place votes for a perfect score of 64 points. BYU, which has won the last five WCC championships, won its first national championship in 2019.
The Pilots, who finished in 10th at the 2019 NCAA Championships, are second in the coaches poll with one first-place vote and 56 points.
