Was sorry to hear the news yesterday of the passing of actor and poker enthusiast Dick Van Patten at age 86.
I have had several occasions to interact with his son Vince, both while covering him in tournaments and when working with him a few times on WPT events. I have written here before about enjoying those conversations. I’ve always been curious to talk further with him about his tennis career (and once beating John McEnroe -- no shinola), all of those TV roles, Rock and Roll High School, and other stories from his teen idol days.
