Saints Grades for their thrilling 30-28 win over the Texans on Monday Night Football in Week 1 of the NFL season covers all three phases of the game, but focuses more on the offense. Drew Brees overcame a slow start with a big 2nd half finishing for 370 yards in total and 2 touchdowns. Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas each had a major impact as Kamara racked up 169 total yards while Thomas had 123 yards receiving. NFL Daily host Carter Bryant hands out game grades for the Saints. The defense had an up-and-down night. New Orleans’ secondary is a work in progress at best and had no answers for DeAndre Hopkins. The linebackers were below average as they got gashed in the run game. The pass rush was great compiling 6 sacks and several other hurries on Deshaun Watson. But again, the defensive line struggled to stop the run against guys like Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson.
