Description
It started in March with a calf strain. Now five months later and Andrew Luck is still not practicing. Colts’ owner Jim Irsay said on Monday that Luck’s absence was related to a “small little bone issue.” However, GM Chris Ballard explained on Tuesday that the QB is dealing with a “high ankle-ish” problem. The conflicting reports have a lot of people scratching their heads on what the heck is going on with Andrew Luck and questioning if he’ll be ready to go by week 1. Luck led the Colts to the playoffs in each of his first three seasons, including the AFC Championship in 2014. But since week 3 of the 2015 season, Luck has missed 26 games including the entire 2017 season. The Colts went 4-12 when Luck was out, could they face the same fate again this year? Amari Cooper is another player who has struggled with injury recently. Originally, Cooper was diagnosed with a bone bruise on the heel but according to recent reports, it is “more of a ligament thing.” Cooper is an integral part of the Cowboys’ young core and with Ezekiel Elliott still holding out, Amari will be a critical part of Dak Prescott and the Cowboy’s offensive success. Jason Garrett still lists Cooper’s status as “day-by-day” but with the regular season still about a month away, he should be good to go in week one of the NFL regular season when the Cowboys face off against the New York Giants. Bosa, the 49ers 1st round draft pick, was in a walking boot as of Wednesday at practice and participated in light conditioning with trainers. Drake, on the other hand, will “be a while” before he is 100% but was also in a walking boot as of Wednesday. Kenyan Drake coming off a career year, rushing for 535 yards, 4 touchdowns and averaging just under 5 yards a carry. N’Keal Harry, rookie out of Arizona State, left the first preseason game vs. the Detroit Lions with a hamstring and foot injury. Luckily for Harry, his injury is “minor” and the Pats can likely expect him back on the field in time for regular season-- maybe even in time for joint practice with the Tennessee Titans.
