Dallas Cowboys training camp is nearly here and there are some notable Cowboys rumors & news to discuss regarding the last month of the Cowboys offseason. Dak Prescott & Byron Jones are players who will become free agents next offseason. Are the Cowboys going to sign Dak to a contract extension during camp? What about Byron Jones? Has Jones shown enough potential at CB to receive a big payday or will the Cowboys wait to sign Jones during or after this upcoming NFL season. There have reportedly been no progress made on a Byron Jones contract, so we will have to wait & see how the Cowboys handle their contract situations this NFL offseason. In other Cowboys rumors, Tom discusses the possibility of signing former Packers DT Mike Daniels. Daniels was cut by the Packers & there were original reports that the Cowboys could be interested in the pro bowl DT. However, the latest reports suggest that the Cowboys will not pursue Daniels & will head into training camp with their current roster. Speaking of the Cowboys roster, DeMarcus Lawrence & Byron Jones will start training camp on the PUP list & joining them will be Tyrone Crawford & Noah Brown. Crawford is nursing a hip injury & Brown underwent a knee scope this offseason that he is still recovering from. Finally, RB Ezekiel Elliott did not board the team plane departing for Dallas Cowboys training camp. Zeke has expressed that he would like to receive a new contract extension before the start of the 2019 NFL season, but the Cowboys have not begun negotiations on an extension with Elliott. Elliott will not be a free agent until 2021, so the Cowboys would rather prioritize contract extensions for players such as Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper & Byron Jones. Also, the Cowboys cut Allen Hurns earlier this week, but Dallas can bring back their former WR on a cheaper deal if he doesn’t receive interest in free agency.
