Cowboys Grades from Week 3 of the NFL Preseason against the Texans focuses on all 3 phases of the game. Dak Prescott led his team down the field & had an impressive touchdown play to Michael Gallup on his last snap of the game. Speaking of Michael Gallup, the 2nd-year wideout only had the one catch for a TD, but he would have had another touchdown if it wasn’t for a holding penalty by Connor Williams. Devin Smith is another young player who had a great showcasing vs. the Texans. He racked up 79 yards on 6 catches. The Cowboys QBs have been targeting him a lot this preseason, so that’s a good sign. On defense, Taco Charlton had a breakout game. He had 3 tackles, 1 pass deflection, 1 forced fumble & a fumble recovery. Maybe Taco will finally show that he was worthy of a first-round pick. Kerry Hyder was also getting after the Texans’ QBs. He had 2 sacks, 1 tackle for loss & 3 QB hits in his best game in a Cowboys uniform. Last but not least, Donovan Wilson snagged an interception & the Cowboys defense held the Texans to a goose egg. Overall, the Cowboys offense looked very solid & did not have a problem putting points on the board. The Cowboys defense looked even better forcing 4 turnovers & 8 sacks while allowing a whopping ZERO points. Finally, the Cowboys special teams played great. There were a couple of notable returns & the huge blocked punt for a TD that helped set the tone early. For the Cowboys week 3 preseason dress rehearsal, you couldn’t have asked for a better performance.
