On Saturday night the WPIAL announced the playoff brackets for this year’s postseason. Whereas in previous years, over 60 teams had reached the postseason, the COVID pandemic shrunk this year’s field to just 44 teams. The playoffs in 6A have just 4 teams while the playoffs in the other five classifications have 8 teams. Higher-seeded teams will host the games through the semifinal round with the Championship Games to be played at either North Hills or North Allegheny. Here is a look at the brackets in each of the six classifications along with a primer on each of the 44 playoff qualifiers.
