We have come to the final third of the WPIAL season. Last week, 14 teams clinched playoff spots to bring the season total to 15 of the 64 spots secured. The highlight of Week 6 was the West Allegheny-Upper St Clair showdown for first place in the 5A Allegheny Nine Conference. West Allegheny held a 14-7 lead late in the game. Upper St Clair drove into West A territory but turned it over on downs on the edge of the red zone. With only a minute and a half left, all West A had to do was run a few times and the game would be over.
