Watch: Asante Samuel Jr. Records INT In First Steelers Start

Stepping into the starting lineup for the injured James Pierre, new Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. — playing just his third game in the Black and Gold, wasted no time making his presence known.

On the Miami Dolphins’ second drive of the game, Samuel stepped underneath an under thrown pass from Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa intended for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle for the interception, ending what appeared to be a promising drive for the Dolphins.

With Pierre on the shelf for the game with a calf injury, Samuel assumed the starting role, and in a matchup against Tagovailoa was going to find himself with opportunities to make plays against a turnover-prone quarterback.
