Vet WRs Gave Aaron Rodgers ‘Comfortability Factor’ To Run Offense Smoothly, Whaley Says

Aaron Rodgers praised new wide receivers Adam Thielen and Marquez Valdes-Scantling after Sunday’s win, despite their combined four yards. Thielen played nearly half of the snaps, while Valdes-Scantling played more than a quarter. Between the two, they drew two targets, combining for one catch.

Even though they weren’t productive, however, Doug Whaley believes the presence of Thielen and Valdes-Scantling was very helpful for Aaron Rodgers. Relying upon the less experienced Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin III, he may have had a harder time operating as smoothly as he prefers.

One way or the other, the Steelers’ passing game clearly operated better than it has most of the year.
