Pittsburgh Steelers DT Cameron Heyward is only two years removed from an injury-plagued 2023 season. Yet, even at 36 years old, he’s still making plays at the heart of the Steelers’ defensive line.
Heyward has 66 total tackles, only five fewer than last year’s total with two games still to play. He has eight tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks, six passes defended, and one forced fumble. He’s an impact player logging a lot of snaps at an age when you just don’t see that anymore. And it’s gotten former Steelers OL Trai Essex’s attention.
“I don’t even think it’s an exaggeration, Cam Hayward at 36 years old is doing something that’s never been done before,” Essex said Tuesday on The Fan Morning Show.
