Pittsburgh Steelers team captain Cameron Heyward has stated time and time again he doesn’t want to play for any coach but Mike Tomlin. Outside linebacker T.J. Watt has made similar comments in the past, too.
But now they’ll have to if they want their NFL careers to continue in Pittsburgh as Tomlin stepped down as the Steelers head coach on Tuesday, ending a 19-year run at the helm.
Heyward is coming of an All-Pro season again and is entering the final year of his contract. Meanwhile Watt is entering Year 2 of a big extension he signed and didn’t have an impactful season in 2025, raising questions about his abilities moving forward.
