Pittsburgh Steelers fans were shocked yesterday after the team released a statement that star pass rusher T.J. Watt had been admitted to the hospital after developing a lung problem while receiving treatment. Subsequent reporting from NFL insider Adam Schefter didn’t add much detail but clarified that the lung injury occurred during treatment at the Steelers facility.
This immediately led to speculation that Watt had suffered an injury similar to former Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor in 2020. Taylor was receiving an intercostal nerve block prior to a game and developed a complication after the needle hit his lung.
