After being released on Saturday, the Carolina Panthers have claimed former Steelers’ wide receiver Donte Moncrief off of waivers according to ESPN’s Adam Shefter.
While this is normally not significant news for a former Steelers’ player to sign with another team, what this waiver claim specifically means is the Steelers are not responsible for paying Moncrief the remaining $700k+ he was due for the remaining 2019 season. Moncrief had already received his $3.5 million signing bonus from the Steelers along with his weekly pay through Week 9 of 2019.
