The Pittsburgh Steelers felt good when they selected linebacker Carson Bruener out of Washington in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Not only was it a great storyline with his father, Mark, a former Steelers first-round pick and a current scout, but it also addressed a need, both from a defensive and special teams standpoint.
Bruener then went out and proved it, turning in a great training camp and preseason, proving to be a tackling machine on special teams under coordinator Danny Smith. That earned him a roster spot, and since then he’s done nothing to disappoint.
