The Steelers’ defense has allowed its last two opponents to rush for 200-plus yards, and now they have the Dolphins. Having allowed 466 yards combined since November 30, Pittsburgh now ranks 29th in run defense. And Miami poses its own problems, both from a trenches standpoint and out of the backfield.
“The whole line is athletic”, Steelers DC Teryl Austin said, via transcript provided by the team’s media department, outlining the issues the run defense will face. “They have some perimeter schemes, and they get those guys out, and they get bigs on little people, and when you get bigs on little people out in space, they can create seams for the runners; that’s good business for them”.
