Steelers Waive RB Karlos Williams

The Pittsburgh Steelers officially waived RB Karlos Williams on Thursday.

Williams, 23, was taken in the fifth round of last year’s NFL Draft by the Bills. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2,495,352 rookie contract and was set to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

The Bills made the decision cut Williams in part to his conditioning being a major issue. Reports mentioned that Williams showed up to offseason workouts between 20-25 pounds overweight.

The Steelers signed him to their practice squad in October and later brought him back on a futures deal.
