Steelers release Hopewell grad Rushel Shell

The Steelers released former Hopewell and Pitt and West Virginia running back Rushel Shell on Wednesday morning and replaced him on their offseason roster with running back Brandon Brown-Dukes.

Shell, who finished his college eligibility with three seasons at WVU, was signed as an undrafted free agent after the draft. Shell set the WPIAL and PIAA records for rushing yards in a high school career while at Hopewell.

Shell was one of three former Pitt players the Steelers signed as undrafted free agents after the draft. Tight end Scott Orndoff and safety Terrish Webb remain on the roster as minicamp continues this week.
